What if I lose my phone or my passkey?
WalletWallet holders·Live beta·Published ·Updated
A synced passkey may be available on a replacement device through your credential provider; availability depends on your settings and access to that account. If no synced copy remains, a backup key you added can get you back into your wallet when you sign in to the same Swaps account. The backup helps if your wallet key is lost, not stolen. Swaps cannot reconstruct a key.
On a new phone
Sign in to the same keychain
If your credential provider supports sync and it was enabled, sign in to the account holding your passkey.
Open Swaps and sign in
If available on this device, select your wallet key, “Swaps Wallet · …” (older wallets: “Swaps Tempo Wallet”), when you approve a send.
Keep sync on
Check your credential provider’s sync settings and confirm that you can use the passkey on another supported device.
If you lose every key of this wallet
Swaps has no copy of any of them, so it can’t restore the wallet or move its balance. Signing in to Swaps again doesn’t restore a key. Stop directing new payments to a wallet you can no longer access, and review any links or invoices that settle there.
Your passkeys and their jobs
Your sign-in passkey signs you in. Your wallet key, “Swaps Wallet · …” (older wallets: “Swaps Tempo Wallet”), approves payments. A backup key, “Swaps backup key · …”, can move your balance and approve a key on a new device. Losing one doesn’t remove the others.
