Your wallet key may be stolen: report it and move your money
WalletWallet holders·Updated
Your backup key can’t lock out a stolen wallet key. Moving your money to a new address is what helps.
Act now
Whoever has your wallet key can move your money before you do, and can remove your backup key. “Swaps can’t stop them or move money back.”
Report it
Choose “I can’t find my key”, then “Stolen”, then “Report with backup key”, and choose your backup key in the prompt. Reporting is a signature: it moves nothing and costs nothing. It can’t be undone: your wallet stays marked stolen.
Swaps then says “Payments in are being frozen.” New ways to pay into your wallet through Swaps close at once. “Your report goes to Swaps support, with the bank details and links you already shared.” A deposit address you already shared can keep receiving, so ask people not to use it. Send keeps working.
Move your balance
Choose “Move your balance” and enter a Tempo address you control. Not this wallet, and not an exchange deposit address for another network: money sent there may never reach you, and Swaps can’t move it back.
Choose “Review” and check what moves and what stays.
Choose “Sign with backup key” and sign with your backup key.
“It goes to this address. Swaps can’t move it back.” When Swaps shows “Sent — confirmed on Tempo”, the money is at that address.
Money
One transaction moves your dollar balances. Its network fee comes from your balance, up to what the review shows; what the fee doesn’t use stays on this wallet. If a token couldn’t go in it, Swaps says “The rest stays on this wallet.” and “Move the rest” sends it in another transaction, with its own fee. A move can’t be undone.
If something stops you
If Swaps says “Your backup key doesn’t work now”, whoever has your wallet key may have removed it. Contact Swaps support now.
To come back later, choose “I can’t find my key”, then “Stolen”. Swaps shows “Reported. Now move your balance” without asking for your backup key again.
